Why I work with babies, families, and pets…only.

Sometimes people ask why I don’t do weddings, or engagement sessions, or personal branding… and the truth is, those things just don’t inspire me to create. I can’t get excited about photographing them. And it’s not worth doing if I don’t get excited about it. THIS is what makes my heart sing: a piercing, no-pretenses look from a child whom I’ve come to know and love through our sessions over the years. The “pirate’s eye” expression that your kid has flashed at me for EVERY SESSION over the past 8 years of her life. An unabashed, open, honest look from a child I’ve known her whole life. A head-thrown-back belly laugh from a kid who has been smiley since he was a baby, but now that he’s growing up he thinks he’s too cool to laugh at my jokes, so I have to work hard to get his genuine personality to shine through in an image. I love your children, truly. I celebrate their wins, I feel their struggles, I know their idiosyncrasies and what makes them loosen up when they’re feeling self-conscious. And if you’re a new client and I haven’t met your kids before, I will take the time to build that relationship. The only thing that I get really, truly invested in, year after year, session after session, are children and pets. So that’s why that’s all you see from OGP. It’s what I love.
